schwur.ch shows what Swiss political proposals could bring about – and what each of these statements is based on. We do not tell you how to vote. We show what is known, how certain it is and where it comes from.

How it works

1. Proposal. A referendum, an international treaty, a law.
2. Impact. An expected change, with its direction, its causal proximity to the proposal and whether it can be quantified.
3. Estimate. Where possible, a figure in its own unit – as a range from low to high, for acceptance of the proposal and for the status quo.
4. Evidence. Every estimate refers to passages in sources that support it, qualify it or contradict it.
5. Source version. Every source is stored in the version in which it was cited, together with a checksum. If a document changes, a new version is created; the old one remains.

Our rules

• Primary sources first. Every figure has an origin.
• Uncertainty is part of the figure: ranges and confidence levels always appear next to the number.
• No overall score. Impacts are not combined into a single rating; how you weigh them is up to you.
• ‘Rises’ and ‘falls’ describe the change in a quantity, not whether that change is good or bad.
• Published estimates are never silently overwritten but replaced by new ones – the old ones remain visible.
• Figures marked example value show how the platform works. They are derived from the cited passages but have not been editorially reviewed.
